Centre International des Arts en Mouvement

Deployed since 2013 on the edge of Aix-en-Provence, the Centre International des Arts en Mouvement is an open and dynamic space dedicated to exploring the recreation of links between culture and society.

Drawing on the circus arts—a discipline that is both popular and demanding—its projects are structured around four key areas: education, innovation and research, support for artists, and the dissemination of performances.

Today, the Centre International des Arts en Mouvement welcomes 18,000 beneficiaries each year, bringing together a diverse range of participants under its big tops. Young people from the Youth Judicial Protection Service take part in circus workshops alongside their mentors, while the Vice President of Ubisoft serves on the jury of the CIAMLabs hackathon on augmented circus. Researchers from the CNRS collaborate with artists to explore connections between the humanities and the circus arts, meeting children with autism who are taking part in a multi-year discovery programme. Meanwhile, job seekers and business leaders come together under the big top for a recruitment workshop based on interpersonal skills—all alongside the 450 weekly students of the amateur circus arts school and the 1,500 children and teenagers engaged in various artistic and cultural education projects each year.
