Cyr wheel · Premiere 2025

Two performers, two Cyr wheels, two different styles: Jef is pacifist and indecisive, Marica is confident and confrontational. Guided by their contrasts, the two acrobats weave a poetic and physical dialogue where conflict and complicity converge. In Difference is a journey towards a gradual break with the wheel’s traditional uses, to the point of bringing it to life.

Marica Marinoni, born in Milan in 1995, and Jef Everaert, born in Leuven in 1999, are circus artists specializing in the Cyr wheel. Both studied at the FLIC school in Turin and the CNAC in France, they developed unique approaches: Marica explores fluid, acrobatic movement, while Jef draws on his juggling background for manipulative innovation.

Juggling · Premiere 2026

Metaphoric Objects presents a series of artistic experiments in object manipulation, aimed at developing a poetic language. Led by a versatile juggler, this research manifests in evolving performances that depart from conventional structures, adapting to the specific context of each appearance and collection.

David Martin was born in Parisian region. After studying visual and media arts, he trained at the Plus petit cirque du monde in Bagneux and then at Doch in Stockholm.

Floor acrobatics, puppetry · Premiere 2026

Bound by a common loss, Marius Fouilland and Aimé Rauzier come together in a piece that questions our relationship with death and brings it into the present moment. Guided by the language of acrobatics, they give a place to the absent: puppets and humans merge in a dialogue between two worlds. Jumping, rising, tilting, falling as two, standing as four.

Marius Fouilland and Aimé Rauzier trained in floor acrobatics at the Académie Fratellini. Aimé Rauzier works as a performer in L’absolu (Cie les choses de rien) and Foraine (Cie Bal). Marius Fouilland worked as a performer with the Samuel Mathieu company for the creation of Saltarines. He founded the company Inéluctable in 2022.

Cie Dissociée (Marcelo Nunes), GHETTO
circusnext 2025 Laureates circusnext - European Circus Label

Static trapeze, fakir, clown · Premiere 2026

GHETTO depicts addiction as a silent predator, trapping its protagonist in a vicious cycle where fleeting pleasure inevitably dissolves into despair. Yet within this stark contrast between illusion and reality, a ray of hope gradually surfaces—a path to healing forged through the transformative power of suffering and resilience.

Marcelo Nunes is an author and performer whose artistic journey is rooted in an incessant quest for novelty, influenced by his experiences in Brazil and Europe. His practice focuses on three techniques: trapeze, clowning, and fakir, exploring the wild nature of humanity.

Masterclass from 28 April to 3 May 2025 at the Théâtre Silvia Monfort

Body and Matter – A Shared Space circusnext - European Circus Label
@ Patricia Hardy

circusnext, the Maison des Jonglages, the Académie Fratellini and the Beaux-Arts de Paris offer on a regular basis, their students a week-long masterclass led by a circus artist whose artistic approach intersects with the visual arts.

This is a time of collective research and experimentation, allowing participants to pool their learning and individuality.

How can the visual and performing arts be mutually enriching? What are the links between these two approaches, these two disciplines? What exchanges and dialogues are possible?

Corps et matière – un espace commun is a cross-disciplinary exploration between circus performers and visual artists to diversify the artistic, technical and scenographic approaches that resonate with the body and movement.

About Inbal Ben Haim, artist associated with circusnext in 2024-2025:

Inbal Ben Haim uses the rope, her circus prop of choise, to explore new intersections between circus and the visual arts, using paper as the essential and primary substance of her creative process. More generally, Inbal’s projects develop a poetic and visual language based on the encounter between body, material and space.

Carlo Cerato at the Rencontre des Jonglages Festival!

On 17 May 2025, Carlo Cerato (circusnext 2021 Laureate with Edo Cirque) will present his show Llabyellov goes outside at the Rencontre des Jonglages Festival, free and open to all.
Carlo Cerato at the Rencontre des Jonglages Festival! circusnext - European Circus Label
@ Roberto Mieli - Dominio Pubblico

“When we watch something like juggling, as an audience, we are put in the role of “explorer”, the same role the artist had when exploring a new juggling technique for the first time. The audience will find themselves as explorers, not in a jungle, but close to home; not with a wild animal, but with juggling.”

Llabyellov goes outside is a multi-format, multicoloured juggling solo creating a show  that is both visual and sensory. Come and discover the surreal (and ironic) universe of Carlo Cerato!

Carlo Cerato discovered circus at the age of 11. He trained at FLIC in 2015 and later graduated from CNAC in 2019. With Léon Volet and Ramiro Erburu, he created the company EDO Cirque, 2021 circusnext Laureate. In 2020 he created the solo Llabyellov, then in 2022 he worked as an outside eye for the duo LAR by Davide and Mattia Bonetti. He is currently developing his new project ASTRAT, set to premiere in 2026.

Two circusnext 2025 Finalists at the Cirque Électrique, Paris

Juan Carlos Panduro and Cie Kimera will present a fragment of their current creation on Sunday 27 April at 17:00
Two circusnext 2025 Finalists at the Cirque Électrique, Paris circusnext - European Circus Label
@ Josefina Colli © Kino Kine
Juan Carlos Panduro (Spain) · Salar la Pena · Handstand, poetry

A hybrid project between circus and poetry, Salar la pena brings a body in crisis to the stage. Through handstand, contortion, and voice, it explores failure, loss, desire, and everything that connects the sacred to the monstrous. A liturgy of cleansing and emptying, a call to the beyond.

Cie Kimera (Italy) · ES · Floor acrobatics, hanstand, fakir

In a raw aesthetics universe, ES explores fragmentation, disconnection, and rupture. A body decomposes and reconstructs itself to the rhythm of breaking glass and dripping water. The mirror shatters, and once the pieces are put back together, a question arises: am I still myself, or have I become something else?

Hristina Ŝormaz (2024 Finalist) at Les Noctambules for the Brut d’Arènes festival.

@ Joseph Banderet
Hristina Ŝormaz (Serbia) – Traces – Rope

How can humans and nature coexist? Traces depicts a shared ecosystem where the performer, space and matter influence each other. The artist uses clay and her body to create a landscape depicting conflict, destruction, and harmony. It’s a call for awareness of the human impact on the environment.

Hristina Ŝormaz started practicing circus and focusing on aerial rope while studying scenography in Serbia. She trained as an artist through non-formal education, artistic collaborations and masterclasses in circus and contemporary dance.

Discovering different physical practices became a way to question human relations with their environment and society, which led her to engage in a circus driven artistic, pedagogical, and social work. Since 2018, she is following doctoral studies in scenography, where she investigates the use of space and matter through a circus perspective.

Jakob Jacobsson (Finalist 2025) at RueWATT-2r2c, Paris

From 17 to 21 March, circusnext welcomes Jakob Jacobsson to the Coopérative de Rue et de Cirque for a five-day residency. Join us on 20 March at 17:00 to discover Insomnia during a work-in-progress presentation.
Jakob Jacobsson (Finalist 2025) at RueWATT-2r2c, Paris circusnext - European Circus Label
@ Anahi Clemens
Jakob Jacobsson (The Netherlands) – Insomnia – Rope

Insomnia is inspired by the liminal spaces in which time flows at uneven paces, and the subjectivity of time when we find ourselves in them. It is a performance that utilises the physical languages of vertical rope and light design in order to suspend the audience in the sensation that time is not exactly what it seems.

The lights and the rope create sensations and imagery of suspense and fragmentation, and bring into question the length of a moment, and whether we can hold onto time

Jakob Jacobsson stumbled upon circus while working in a jazz bar adjacent to a small theatre in his Swedish hometown. Captivated by the immediate connection to the audience offered by the inherent physicality of circus, and its multi-disciplinarity, he set out to pursue it on his own.

He moved through France, England and The Netherlands, studied at Codarts Circus Arts, and participated in the pilot program of ICCAR, to explore the possibilities of aerial rope.

He’s joined in this creation by Finnish light designer Teo Lanerva, whose experience in bespoke light design within contemporary dance and circus is the skillset needed to create a performance in the borderland between the two art forms.

Oriane Lautel (Finalist 2025) at Espace Périphérique, Paris

From 4 to 15 March, circusnext welcomes Oriane Lautel at the Espace Périphérique for a 10-day residency. Come and discover Des amoures chiennes aux amour-lichen on 14 March at 17:00 during a work-in-progress presentation.
Oriane Lautel (Finalist 2025) at Espace Périphérique, Paris circusnext - European Circus Label
@ Basile Minster
Oriane Lautel (Belgium) – Des amoures chiennes aux amour-lichen – Static Trapeze

Eco, a one-of-a-kind character, invites us to a family dinner to tell us all about it. Even stuffed with anachronisms, it’s succulent. She’s shameless and voracious. We’re in her shack, which looks like a badly assembled fairground barnum, though it’s actually the ridges of an ancestral mineral. She talks with her mouth full. She drools, we salivate. This is the story of Eco, of Actéonne who, after a metamorphosis, becomes Accettone, of the woman with a hundred eyes who, in several episodes, takes us on this viscous journey.

Welcome to a world swallowed up by female/queer characters who want to form a whole with their stories, bodies and voices. How desire and violence are housed in the same body. Indiscernible. A chimera body. Algae and Mushrooms. Desire and Violence. My lichen has parents.

Oriane is a hybrid circus creator and performer. She learned to sew with a diploma in costume design. She tried her hand at research at the Sorbonne Nouvelle. And it was at the École Supérieure des Arts du Cirque that she discovered the body machine. Now based in Brussels, she sews all these skills together to create spectacular projects, always in close collaboration. She develops a carnal and radical relationship with the stage.

In 2022, she co-created her first indoor circus show with Camille Granger, Le Cri du bombyx. This project is part of a research project started in 2016 with Anarchitecture, focusing on the deconstruction of the apparatus and the non-virtuoso circus gesture.
